The 42nd China International Sporting Goods Show (China Sport Show) is set to take place from May 22–25, 2025, at the Greenland International Expo Center in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. With an expanded exhibition area of over 180,000 square meters and more than 1,700 exhibitors expected, the show is poised to break records once again.

As the largest and most influential fitness and sports industry event in Asia, the China Sport Show offers not just an exhibition, but a panoramic window into the development of China's sporting goods industry. On the eve of this major event, we take a moment to reflect on its 30-year legacy, recap highlights from the 2024 Chengdu edition, and preview what’s ahead in 2025.

A National Platform Behind a Global Sports Power

Launched in 1993, the China Sport Show is currently the only national-level, internationally recognized, and professionally organized sporting goods trade fair in China. Hosted by the China Sporting Goods Federation, the show has evolved from a traditional equipment exhibition into a comprehensive platform covering fitness equipment, sports venue facilities, consumer sports goods, smart sports technology, and sports services.

Today, the show is both a gateway for global brands entering the Chinese market, and a stage for Chinese manufacturers and emerging "Guochao" (national trend) brands to step onto the world stage. In terms of scale, international participation, and industry depth, China Sport Show is now a benchmark event for the entire Asia-Pacific region.

Looking Back: Key Highlights from the 2024 Chengdu Show

Held from May 23–26, 2024, at the Western China International Expo City in Chengdu, the 41st edition of the show covered 180,000 sqm — a 20% increase compared to the 2023 event in Xiamen. It attracted over 1,600 exhibitors and more than 100,000 professional visitors, including 3,000 international attendees from 64 countries, marking the highest overseas participation since the pandemic.

Looking Ahead: A Comprehensive Upgrade for 2025 in Nanchang

For 2025, the organizers have announced a bold new layout:

  • The show will span 14 indoor halls and 20,000 sqm of outdoor space, with a total area exceeding 180,000 sqm.

  • Ten specialized exhibition zones are planned, covering AI-powered fitness equipment, rehabilitation & therapy, smart sports systems, youth training gear, and more.

  • Approximately 1,700 companies are expected to exhibit, including a growing number of startup tech-driven sports enterprises.

Confirmed concurrent events include:

  • China Sports Industry Exchange Conference

  • New Product & Trend Launches

  • National Smart Sports Standards Forum

  • Sports Investment & Trade Matchmaking Fair

  • Health & Fitness Lifestyle Experience Pavilion

  • 2025 China Digital Sports Industry Conference

Demand has been so high that booth reservations were fully booked in advance. In addition, green visa channels and services for international visitors have been opened to support smoother participation—further reflecting the show’s strategic shift toward a “dual circulation” model (international + domestic engagement).

🎙️ Special note: Roger, editor of Fit Gear Hub, will moderate the “Digital Sports Equipment: Technology & Standards” roundtable at the 2025 China Digital Sports Industry Conference. We welcome all industry professionals to attend and engage!

Global Comparison: How Does China Sport Show Stack Up?

Compared to other major international shows like ISPO Munich and FIBO Cologne, China Sport Show has now firmly entered the “first-tier” league.

While it may not yet be the largest in terms of exhibitor count, the China Sport Show leads in professional visitor numbers and offers one of the most integrated views of the full sports industry value chain — from smart manufacturing and government procurement to youth fitness and mass participation programs. This strong Chinese identity and industrial resilience distinguish it globally.

Final Thoughts: More Than a Trade Show — A Mirror of an Industry

From “Made in China” to “Designed in China,” the country’s sporting goods sector is undergoing an important transformation. The China Sport Show stands as both a witness and a driver of this evolution.

As we look ahead to Nanchang 2025, this event promises to offer a larger platform, smarter technologies, and more global connections. It will not only showcase China’s next-generation sports innovations to the world, but also provide a bridge linking global sports demand with China's manufacturing capabilities.

The future is here — see you in Nanchang!
